Verse 13Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; Verse 14but Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs." Verse 15And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
Devotion
He Who Is Coming comes with a touch. It is a touch for children. It’s easy for grown-ups to forget sometimes how frightening it is to be a child. It is easy for comfortable middle-class people to ignore the violence, homelessness, and hunger that are everyday realities for many children. Jesus never forgot the children. His touch was as fully for them as it was for adults. His powerful love touched children then, and touches children now.
Prayer
Lord of the Little Ones, reach out now to the children of the world. Surround them with your love, and enable them to live in peace and wholeness. Amen.
