Verse 23And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. Verse 24A windstorm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. Verse 25And they went and woke him up, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" Verse 26And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, you of little faith?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a dead calm. Verse 27They were amazed, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?"
Devotion
Fear gripped the disciples as the storm crashed around them. Anxiety overwhelmed them when they yelled out to Jesus to save them from drowning. Doubt and awe encircled them as they reflected on what had just taken place. When we get caught up in these same kinds of feelings, we need only to call out to the One who knows us and who will be there to calm our storms.
Prayer
Strengthen our faith during the storms of our lives, so that we might continue to give praise to you, O God. Amen.
