Verse 18I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us.
Devotion
The Christmas carol "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" (LBW 44) includes the two dimensions of the Christmas story: "Christ the child was born for you!" and "Christ the child is Lord of all!" Jesus was born for you and me, but his birth signaled a new hope for the world. Until now "the whole creation has been groaning." No longer. The entry of the "King of creation" into the manger announces a dramatic new turn. All heaven and nature sing!
Prayer
Lord, we hope for what we do not yet see, but we thank you that the manger scene gives us a glimpse also into the future. Amen.
