Soli Deo Gloria, Verse 3, ELW 878
3 All praise for music, deep gift profound, through hands and voices in holy sound; the psalms of David, and Mary's praise, in wordless splendor and lyric phrase, with all creation one song we raise:
Soli Deo gloria!
Soli Deo gloria!
Devotion
Children will sing if you let them. If we listen and help them they will lift their voices for nothing more than the pure joy of the sound they make. It is we who criticize and discourage them out of it and that is a shame. We were made for praise and for song. Our bodies were made to sing and to lift the glory of the Lord before the whole of the earth so that the vaults of heaven themselves might ring with the holy sound. We are not alone. The whole of creation sings all around us, all the time. When we walk and talk and sing and act in harmony with creation, when we can find that place of peace and beauty, it is as if we can touch the face of God and hear God join the chorus.
Prayer
As the cabinetmaker loves the forest, so we love the songs within us, Lord. They are a rich well of possibility and a resource for life. They are the song you would have us sing, the prayer you would have us pray. Make us grateful as we draw from this well for all the days we have a voice to sing. Amen.
