Verse 1O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill?
Verse 2Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth from their heart;
Verse 3who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors;
Verse 4in whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear the Lord; who stand by their oath even to their hurt;
Verse 5who do not lend money at interest, and do not take a bribe against the innocent. Those who do these things shall never be moved.
Devotion
In East Jerusalem, on the Mount of Olives, sits the Lutheran World Federation and Augusta Victoria Hospital. Across the Kidron Valley, beyond the walls of the Old City, rises the Dome of the Rock—that gold-gilded, thin place—above the thick reality that is Jerusalem. Different faiths have abided in God’s tent. Different people have answered the question, “Who may dwell on your holy hill?” Psalm 15 offers a response that moves us beyond race or religion and points us to a righteousness that comes from God, a righteousness that pours over into our lives for the sake of the neighbor.
Prayer
God, who stands by oaths even to your hurt, you call your people to walk blamelessly and do what is right. Teach us to trust you in such a way that we can love our neighbor as you love us. Through Jesus Christ, our righteousness and your holy tent among us. Amen.
