What a Fellowship, What a Joy Divine (Evangelical Lutheran Worship 774)
1 What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
Refrain:
Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
2 Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]
3 What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

Devotion
What have I to dread? Unfortunately, the world is wrought with dread and fear. So much to worry about. So much pain. So much out of our own control. But that is where God’s promises meet us, in the midst of our own pain and suffering. God’s love was and is made known in the embodiment of Jesus. A love that comes to and for all people. From the mountaintop to the table, God’s blessings and blessedness bring us together and send us forth into a world where we trust in God’s presence, even in our most difficult moments. God’s love is made known in God’s beloved world through love and care for our neighbors.
Prayer
Creator God, you bring the gift of peace amid pain and sinfulness. Make your love known to us and to those around us so all can be safe and secure. Bring peace to this world and to our anxious hearts. Amen.
