LBW #537, “O Jesus, King Most Wonderful”
Devotion
It seems to me that in our society, we have simply lost the notion of king. We have a president, elected by the people, to serve for a specified time, who then steps aside for the next president. Not so with kings. Their birthright is to rule, and they rule simply because of who they are. In the old days, they often had the power of life and death over their subjects. They did not serve the people, the people served them.
Yet, we do still have a king - a king unlike any other. We have a king who truly does serve while he reigns; a king of the meek, the lowly, the lost, and yes, the proud, haughty, rich and famous. Our king makes no distinction or exception. He rules in love, and his love knows no bounds.
Prayer
Jesus, you are the ruler of the universe. Thank you for loving me. Amen.
