LBW #415, “God of Grace and God of Glory”
Devotion
Recently I visited the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles with a group of high school students from my congregation. One section of the museum is a interactive blitzkrieg of sounds and images - current and historical - that brought into vivid focus the power of how we can devolve as humans and communities when we live focused on things our way rather than God’s way. The third verse of “God of Grace and God of Glory” is our plea for God’s way to be first: “cure gladness, rich in things and poor in soul. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, lest we miss your kingdom’s goal, lest we miss your kingdom’s goal.”
Prayer
Help us, Lord to embrace our vision for your kingdom. Help us to embrace the gift of your forgiveness and the gifts of your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
