WOV #692, “For All the Faithful Women”
Devotion
“We sing of Mary, mother, fair maiden, full of grace.
She bore the Christ, our brother, who came to save our race.
May we, with her, surrender ourselves to your command
And lay upon your altar our gifts of heart and hand.”
Mary is the one who carried in her the Son of God. God asks each of us to be willing to carry Christ in us--to surrender completely so that we might be used as a vessel for God.
Mary was simply a willing servant of God. God called her like he calls us, and she responded with a favorable answer, changing humankind forever. How do we respond to God's call? Are we truly willing servants? Are we truly vessels bearing Christ’s Good News in every circumstance? Are we eager for the moving of the Spirit in our lives that calls for our gifts of heart and hand?
Prayer
God of grace, we thank you for the faithful example of the Virgin Mary whose song of rejoicing reminds us to magnify your holy and awesome name. Amen.
