WOV #723, “The Spirit Sends Us Forth to Serve”
Devotion
So it begins and so it ends ... with God.
We began this week of St. Bartholomew focusing on call and witness, but realizing it all began with God’s call for us. So today, as the Spirit sends us from worship to serve, we are reminded again: “God’s Spirit has empowered us; We go in Jesus’ name.”
We recently took some guests to a Minnesota Twins baseball game at the Metrodome. Part of the engineering in securing the dome is the use of air pressure. After the game, as the crowd filed out through the doors, we were almost lifted off our feet. The wind literally blew us outside.
Nicodemus learned that you can never tell where the wind blows. That is part of the excitement. How will God put us to work? Where will we be tomorrow? Who will God send across our path?
Prayer
Dearest Lord, we can hardly wait; blow us out into your world! Amen.
