Chapter 3Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified everywhere, just as it is among you, Verse 2and that we may be rescued from wicked and evil people; for not all have faith. Verse 3But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. Verse 4And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will go on doing the things that we command. Verse 5May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
Devotion
Confidence. The word creates confidence even as it names it. To tell a child, a spouse or a friend that you have confidence in them is to inspire that very confidence in their hearts. And how much more empowering it is to have confidence in God's faithfulness concerning them! What a gift Paul gave to the Thessalonians—the gift of confidence in the love of God.
Prayer
Steadfast rescuer, guard us from evil, rescue us from all fear, and direct our hearts to your love. Strengthen us with the confidence that can come only through you so that we may spread your word rapidly and everywhere. Amen.
