Now Thank We All Our God, ELW 839 + LBW 533
1 Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices;
Who from our mothers’ arms, has blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.
2 Oh, may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;
And keep us all in grace, and guide us when perplexed;
And free us from all harm in this world and the next!
3 All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given;
The Son, and Spirit blest, who reign in highest heaven;
The one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore;
For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
Devotion
“O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in all grace, and guide us when perplexed,
And free us from all harm in this world and the next.” Vs. 2
Our texts this week have all spoken to the generosity of our God. We learn that God is generous with the gifts of life, help, hope, possessions and the sacrifice of Jesus. It is only fitting that we sing praise and thanks to this “bounteous God” who cares for us in this world and the next.
Prayer
For all your gifts, O God, we sing our thanks and praise. You give us all good things in abundance, so that we have enough to share with others. Open our hearts to share what you have first given us. Amen.
