Will You Let Me Be Your Servant, ELW 659
1 Will you let me be your servant,
let me be as Christ to you?
Pray that I may have the grace to
let you be my servant, too.
2 We are pilgrims on a journey,
we are trav'lers on the road;
we are here to help each other
walk the mile and bear the load.
3 I will hold the Christ-light for you
in the nighttime of your fear;
I will hold my hand out to you,
speak the peace you long to hear.
4 I will weep when you are weeping;
when you laugh I'll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow
till we've seen this journey through.
5 Will you let me be your servant,
let me be as Christ to you?
Pray that I may have the grace to
let you be my servant, too.
Devotion
Peter and I have two children at St. Olaf College. We joke about the fact that since we are paying for our children to go to college, we don't have to worry about money ... because we don't have any.
The reality is we are thrilled that they are in school. Their tuition is one of our favorite investments. Other investments we treasure are our gifts to our seminary, Luther Seminary, and to our church, Lord of Life Lutheran.
It is great fun to see how God is at work in the lives of our children, and it is great fun to see how God is at work in the life of the church. We are so privileged to be a part of it all.
Prayer
Lord God, we give thanks for the resources that allow us to be your partners in caring for your people. We give you thanks that "we are here to help each other ... walk the mile and bear the load." We pray for joyful hearts in all of our giving. Amen.
