Peace I Leave With You (Thomas P. Williamsen, Karleigh Music Co., A.S.C.A.P.)
Peace I leave with you.
Now faithful you may live.
Peace I give to you,
Peace the world cannot give.
Peace I leave with you.
Love, I leave with you,
To nurture and to tend.
Love, I give to you,
To share with all my friends.
Love, I leave with you.
Faith, I leave with you,
To build on build my church.
Faith, I give to you,
To spread throughout the earth.
Faith, I leave with you.
Devotion
Sin is not our primary persona. Made in God’s image and likeness, humankind was created to reflect that image. Jesus is the living embodiment of God’s image. God always appears as a lover. Our Lord is never an abusive father or a tyrannical mother. This loving God is greater than we dare dream. God’s love envelops us even though we might feel it is undeserved. Our creator is not a ledger keeper. God is the lover who receives and forgives. In the prayerful solitude of our hearts, we encounter the one who calls us beloved. God is the bringer of peace and comfort.
When we ground ourselves in the fact that we are created in God’s image, we can confront even the difficult and challenging things that are also true about us, like sin. And we can hear our Lord say, “Peace, I leave with you.”
Prayer
O bringer of peace, let your love rule in my heart. Amen.
