Devotion
The psalmist’s words fittingly remind us that we are still in the season of Easter: “O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things!” And while we’re at it, adding a lyre, a few trumpets, the roaring seas, the singing hills, and the joyous songs and praises of the whole earth might be OK too! So why all this excitement? The psalmist is not quiet about that either. It’s because the Lord is coming among us in victory, and the Lord’s way is always to remember to exercise steadfast love and faithfulness for all the earth. In this season it is OK to remember, no, it is required, to know confidently that Jesus is Risen, he is Risen indeed! And his coming in victory will be seen among us in the exercise of justice and equity for all God’s children.
Prayer
Victorious Lord, we give thanks for the promise of the Resurrection, and the remembrance and confirmation of your steadfast love and faithfulness to all your creation. Amen.
