Becoming Globally Informed
When I was selected to serve as a Horizon Intern in 2003, I had never left the United States and was unsure of where Guyana was located. In spite of my initial ignorance, after a wonderful internship experience, a final year of coursework at Luther Seminary and ordination with the ELCA in June 2005, I was called back into service in Guyana with ELCA Global Mission. The result was grace-filled global transformation.
David Rutlen helps create leaders for the church
The church was part of David Rutlen’s life even before he was born. His grandfather, whom Rutlen never knew, pastored a Finnish-speaking congregation. And Rutlen’s father, who died in 2004, always wanted to be a pastor. Rutlen, a physician in Little Rock, Ark., thought the best way to honor that dream was to help pastors in training.
Mid-Winter Convocation covers worship in a time of change
From Feb. 5-7, church leaders gathered at Luther Seminary to talk about worshiping God faithfully in a seemingly unending time of crisis and change in the church. Attendees gathered at Mid-Winter Convocation 2013: Worship in a Time of Change to speak out loud about how to be bold and faithful Christian leaders in today’s changing world.
Exciting admissions events give prospective students a look at seminary
High school students and their pastors were invited to Luther Seminary for Previews in November 2012 and April 2013.
In February 2013, Luther Seminary hosted 46 talented future leaders for Scholarship Weekend.
