Read Galatians 4:4-7 on biblegateway.com
Verse 4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, Verse 5in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. Verse 6And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Verse 7So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.
Devotion
Galatians tells us: “God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts crying ‘Abba! Father!’” What a blessing that we get to call God “Abba,” the Aramaic word for “Daddy.”
My fifteen-month-old daughter has a fairly limited repertoire of words (her brother tends to dominate conversation!). This means that she uses the words dada or mama almost constantly: to express joy, to ask for what she needs, to get comfort -- for just about everything in life. She looks to us in all things and for all things. This is the kind of relationship God desires with us: that we call upon our Abba at all times; that we look to God in all our joys, sorrows and need. As we do this, we find that our Abba provides us with all that we need to live lives of faith and service.
Prayer
Abba, we thank you loving us, your children, and for providing us with all that we need. Grant us the grace and strength to call upon you in and for all things through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
