Verse 11Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, Verse 12singing with full voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" Verse 13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, "To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" Verse 14And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshiped.
Devotion
Imagine the snow capped mountains in the west or the fields of green harvest waiting to be picked. Watch the sunset or a sunrise over a skyline, while flocks of birds dance across the sky. Think of a school of fish instantaneously moving in the same direction. Are these possibly glimpses of creation worshiping its creator?
Revelation is full of imagery and colorful language. In these verses, every aspect of creation is worshipping the Lord! Thousand upon thousands of angels are bowing down and all creatures in heaven, on earth, under the earth and under the sea are all worshipping their Lord.
We live during a time when it is not common to watch people readily worshipping God. But depending on where we live or what we are able to see, there are times where creation seems to worship its creator. The worker who does her job without complaint or the father who bathes the children so the mother can rest, the student who decides to prepare for the test rather than wait, could all be ways that we silently worship along with creation.
Prayer
Dear Lord, long before you put us here, you created the heavens, the mountains, the birds in the air and the fish in the sea. They display your glory without even being aware they are doing it. Let us be like these creatures, delighting you as they delight us, displaying your glory and worshipping you, even when we are not aware. Amen.
