Verse 12"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. Verse 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. Verse 14He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. Verse 15All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Devotion
How many sermons did Jesus preach during his three year call to “Saint/Sinner Church” here on planet Earth? How many parables did he tell? How many discussions did he lead? How many healing services? How many miracles did he perform? At least we think we know how many last words he said from the cross. Was it seven? Anyway, we know he was a very busy shepherd (pastor!) and the parish record books were stuffed with pages when he finally moved on to greater things. But what was it that he told his followers just before he left? “There’s more!” And then he revealed a marvelous plan. His ministry would continue under the faithful administration of the Holy Spirit. “He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” And here we are, several millennia after he said those words and the more just keeps pouring in.
Prayer
Abundant God, give me patience to wait expectantly for the constant flow of new messages the Holy Spirit is bringing from you. Amen.
