Built on a Rock, ELW 652
Devotion
The hymn "Built on a Rock" is a "rock star" hymn of the church. This stanza reminds us we are all "living stones" that make up the church. God builds us up in Christ and fills us with the Holy Spirit. We, as gathered church, are inhabited by God's Spirit. The Word proclaimed burns like a fire within us. As we share Holy Communion, Christ is made known to us in the breaking of the bread. Hymns join us with one another and the whole world in praise of God.
We hold fast to the promise of the hymn that as we gather in worship every Sunday, God "in our midst will show his grace, blessings upon us bestowing."
Another familiar hymn invites us in much the same way to "praise God from whom all blessings flow."
Prayer
Come, thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Amen.
