Serenity Prayer (by Kwen Sanderson, verses 4-6)
4 God our father grant serenity to day. Lead and guide us as we travel on our way. Lead us on, bring us home, lest we start to roam. God our father grant serenity today.
5 Brother Jesus grant us courage for today. Give us life as we travel on our way. Lead us on, bring us home, lest we start to roam. Brother Jesus grant us courage for today.
6 Holy Spirit grant us wisdom for today. Give us prayers as we travel on our way. Lead us on, bring us home, lest we start to roam. Holy Spirit grant us wisdom for today.
Tag: Lead us on, bring us home, lest we start to roam. Three in one, grant us all these gifts today.
This is a song I wrote last year, based on The Serenity Prayer. It’s not copyrighted, so, if you would like to use it, for the music and guitar chords send an email to kwen.sanderson@gmail.com.
Devotion
A colleague suggested to me the tag that I have used to sum up the song. Like the Prodigal Son, or the lost sheep in Luke, whether through outright disobedience, or misguided good intentions, it is easy to forget the simple truth: in God’s will is our highest good. It also seems that, like the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22, serenity, courage, and wisdom will be realities in our lives, because they are a part of God’s eternal life that God shares with us through faith.
Prayer
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be the life, and leading of our bodies, minds, and spirits. Amen.
