Congregation Description:NEIGHBORHOOD: completely urban/residential, owner-occupied, mostly Caucasian, mix of ages and family configurations. WORSHIP: weekly Holy Communion at 9:30 AM. Education for all, 10:45. MINISTRIES BEYOND THE CONGREGATION: financial support and some involvement in several social service agencies; shared confirmation program with other ELCA's; strong collegiality with neighboring pastors, ELCA and others through Mission Northeast. Well-regarded Child Care Center with 21 toddler/pre-schoolers. ISSUES/CHALLENGES: the usual urban challenges related to finances, building, and connecting with new neighbors. OVERALL: a stimulating and grace-filled group of redeemed sinners with whom to learn and do ministry. NOTE: Associate Pastor Karen Williams may share in student mentoring.

Autobiography:Born and raised in Minneapolis, education at U of Minn., Indiana U., Luther Seminary. Married 36 years; two adult children, one grandchild. In 12 step recovery since 1990. Mt. Carmel is third call; previous two were in upstate NY and southeastern PA. Continuing ed mostly in areas of missional leadership, congregational systems, Bible, and preaching. Community involvement: co-lead NE Mpls. ecumenical clergy group tied to Mission Northeast; Reading: novels and historical biography, NT Times on-line and Mpls. Star-Tribune in hand. Interests and hobbies: cross-cultural travel, music-making (singing, piano, guitar), walking and delighting in our dog Cappy.
