Each year at Luther Seminary’s commencement ceremony, a number of students receive awards recognizing their outstanding achievement in the following areas.
Graduate Preaching Fellowship
The Graduate Preaching Fellowship offers a M.Div. senior the opportunity to improve one’s preaching through study and travel abroad.
David W. Preus Servant Leadership Award
The David W. Preus Servant Leadership Award provides the opportunity to pursue a 2-3 month servant leadership project.
Caring for Creation Shalom Hill Farm Fellowship
The Caring for Creation Shalom Hill Farm Fellowship provides the opportunity to pursue a 12-week caring for creation project at Shalom Hills Farm.
John Milton Prize in Old Testament
The John Milton Prize recognizes a graduating M.Div. or M.A. student’s outstanding work in Old Testament.
The G.M. and Minnie Bruce Prize in New Testament
The Bruce Prize recognizes a graduating M.Div. or M.A. student’s outstanding work in New Testament.
Children, Youth and Family Prize
The CYF Prize is given annually to one or more students who demonstrate excellence in reflecting theologically, culturally and pragmatically on the practice of children, youth, young adult, adult or family ministries.
Frederick Buechner Prize for Excellence in Preaching
The Buechner Prize is given to an outstanding Master of Divinity graduate. It is intended to help bring the words, ideas and works of Frederick Buechner to a new generation of clergy, with a particular emphasis on enhancing preaching and writing.
Brindle Award in Medical Ethics
TheDr. Jeffrey S. & Mrs. Sherri H. Brindle Award in Medical Ethics is awarded annually to M.Div. and M.A. seniors and any advanced graduate student (Th.M., D.Min., Ph.D.) at Luther Seminary.
