Each year at Luther Seminary’s commencement ceremony, a number of students receive awards recognizing their outstanding achievement in the following areas.
Janet Karvonen-Montgomery Graduate Preaching Fellowship
The purpose of this fund is to award a Luther Seminary graduate a stipend award for the freedom to study preaching and ministry in a variety of cultural contexts.

Children, Youth, and Family Prize
The CYF Prize is given annually to one or more students who demonstrate excellence in reflecting theologically, culturally, and pragmatically on the practice of children, youth, young adult, adult, or family ministries.

Frederick Buechner Prize for Excellence in Preaching
The Buechner Prize is given to an outstanding Master of Divinity graduate. It is intended to help bring the words, ideas and works of Frederick Buechner to a new generation of clergy, with a particular emphasis on enhancing preaching and writing.
