LBW #28, Savior of the Nations, Come
Devotion
A small cathedral outside Bethlehem marks the supposed birthplace of Jesus. Behind the high altar is a cave lit by lamps. You can stand in awe as you enter this edifice, the quiet cave with the star on the floor at the birthplace of the King. To enter, the stipulation is that you must stoop because the door is so low you cannot enter in standing up.
You can see the world standing tall, but to witness the savior, get on your knees. Theologians check commentaries, the elite look to see if others are watching, and the successful check calendars. So, while theologians slept, the elite dreamed and the successful snored, the meek and the shepherds were kneeling before the One, Jesus, Savior of the Nations.
Prayer
Lord, may we kneel before you and rise to praise you. Amen.
