Revelation 5:11-14 (NRSV)
Read Revelation 5:11-14 on biblegateway.com
Verse 11Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, Verse 12singing with full voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" Verse 13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, "To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" Verse 14And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshiped.
Devotion
Whatever else one may say about Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ,” it certainly has evoked a lot of emotions as well as thoughtful reactions. One person said, “I will never receive Holy Communion again without thinking of ‘His body broken’ and ‘His blood shed’.” Another said, “I was overwhelmed by how utterly sinful all the people were portrayed." And yet another said, “I had not given much thought to what Jesus went through for us and for our salvation. Now I think about it a lot!”
The writer of Revelation was probably very accurate when he wrote, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered . . .”
Prayer
Lamb of God, we cannot imagine the suffering you endured to save us sinners from ourselves and our own evil devices. Thank you for doing for us what we could not possibly do for ourselves. Amen.
