LBW #393, "Rise, Shine, You People!"
Devotion
Each of the scripture readings for this week has brought out one of the ways “Christ the Lord has entered our human story,” just as the words of this stirring hymn proclaim. God’s desire to be found (Isaiah 65), God’s attentiveness to those who suffer (Psalm 22), and Jesus’ ability to see beneath even the most dismaying appearances (Luke 8) all testify to God’s deep, passionate involvement in our human story.
With grace unbounded the story surges from one person to the next. You have heard, now tell! Declare what God has done for you! The story takes shape in a visible way amid the community of those clothed in Christ (Galatians 3) who no longer rate each other according to social fashion, but celebrate their baptismal identity and inheritance as one.
Prayer
Glorious God, I praise you for the love and delight you take in us. This weekend, raise me up, fill me with a song of joy that must be shared to be believed. Amen.
