Verse 16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. Verse 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Verse 18And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Verse 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Verse 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Devotion
Not long ago I got my hair cut. As we were making the usual chitchat, my stylist asked if I was taking vacation this summer. No, I said, but I would be heading out on a couple of youth mission trips. She looked mildly interested, so I talked a little bit about why I love those trips so much. But what I wish I’d done is ask her, "So, have you ever done anything like that?" It makes me wonder where the conversation could have gone from there.
The first step to making disciples begins with sharing what we believe so others might be drawn closer to God. But the next step is inviting others to join us on the journey. Are you up for an assignment like this? As Christians, I don't think we get a choice. It's part of the job description. But Jesus does promise that we're not being sent out alone. He will go with us.
Prayer
God, when the opportunity arises to share my faith, give me courage to say something! I trust your Spirit will take it from there. Amen.
