Thine Is the Glory (Evangelical Lutheran Worship 376)
1 Thine is the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son;
Endless is the victory, Thou o’er death hast won;
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
Kept the folded grave clothes where Thy body lay.
Refrain
Thine is the glory, risen conqu’ring Son,
Endless is the vict’ry, Thou o’er death hast won.
2 Lo! Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb!
Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom;
Let his church with gladness hymns of triumph sing;
For the Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting.
Refrain
3 No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conqu’rors, through thy deathless love:
Bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.

Devotion
The empty tomb is a sign of Christ’s victory and a promise for us. He has defeated death. Endless is the victory! Risen from the tomb, he meets us not with judgment but with love. He scatters fear and gloom. For our Lord now liveth, Death hath lost its sting.
Christ’s resurrection is our eternal hope. Life is naught without him, yet he does not leave us to face life alone. He aids us in our strife. He knows our suffering. He took it upon himself. Through his “deathless love”—his own death on the cross—he has opened the way to everlasting life. He will bring us home. Until then, he walks with us, guiding, strengthening, and sustaining us. Even in sorrow, we sing his victory, for he is risen and by his grace, so are we. To him be the glory, now and forever!
Prayer
Risen Lord, in your victory over death, strengthen our faith, scatter our fears, and keep us always in the hope of your eternal love. Amen.
