Devotion
What an amazing psalm! Can’t you just feel the joy, the worship, the gratitude? “Let the peoples praise you…Let the nations be glad…The earth has yielded an increase.” Wow! I wonder what kind of day this psalmist had before writing down this song. How amazing that day must have been. What could have happened that was so full of joy, so utterly stuffed with happiness. Or was it just a Tuesday?
I will believe that it was just a random day, any old day, but the psalmist remembered to look around that day for the joy of God. Today may just be any old Tuesday, but it is also a day to sing a psalm just like this one. So, find something today that makes you burst out in praise, that makes you sing out with joy. “May God continue to bless us”—even if the blessing is as mundane as a normal Tuesday.
Prayer
Holy God, today is a great day because you made it. Give me words to sing out with un-mutable joy. Amen.
