If you want to roll some or all of your annual required distribution from your IRA to Luther Seminary, you can use this form to help you communicate with the custodian of your IRA. It will be considered a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which means it will roll over without tax consequence to you if it goes directly from your custodian to the seminary.
Fill out page 2 and send or fax it to the custodian of your IRA account per the custodian’s instructions. Be sure to date and sign it, so it can be considered a legal request for rollover of funds.
Your custodian will be able to tell you how long it generally takes to process a rollover, and this can guide you about when you need to request it, particularly if you are requesting it at the end of the year.
You should assume your custodian will expedite the rollover because this is a required distribution, but you should monitor its progress to be sure the December 31 deadline is met.
