Verse 8He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Devotion
A diverse array of ecumenical religious leaders recently gathered to sign “A Common Foundation,” a statement of shared principles for overcoming poverty which conveyed a remarkable convergence in all our faith traditions, clarifying how the Creator wills that all people live together well; caring particularly for those whose needs are the greatest.
If every person of faith simply lives into this understanding of God’s will, we will change the world.
In our daily vocations and political leanings we shape this world. God of the Universe has claimed us in Jesus, and we have come to know God as radically loving. This is hope: for the world’s poor and for new ways through the violence and hatreds that humanity so quickly falls back on when hope and vision fade. We pray “your Kingdom come,” and know it does! We pray we are part of that coming!
