Alleluia! Jesus is Risen, ELW 377 & WOV 674
1 Alleluia!
Jesus is risen!
Trumpets resounding in glorious light!
Splendor, the Lamb, heaven forever!
Oh, what a miracle
God has in sight!
Refrain
Jesus is risen and we shall arise.
Give God the glory!
Alleluia!
2 Walking the way,
Christ in the center telling the story to open our eyes; breaking our bread, giving us glory:
Jesus our blessing, our constant surprise.
Refrain
3 Jesus the vine, we are the branches; life in the Spirit the fruit of the tree; heaven to earth, Christ to the people, gift of the future now flowing to me.
Refrain
4 Weeping, be gone; sorrow, be silent: death put asunder, and Easter is bright.
Cherubim sing:
O grave, be open!
Clothe us in wonder, adorn us in light.
Refrain
5 City of God, Easter forever, golden Jerusalem, Jesus the Lamb, river of life, saints and archangels, sing with creation to God the I AM!
Refrain
Devotion
It was Good Friday and the children were gathered in the sanctuary to hear the pastor share the Easter story. They listened quietly. In fact, one parent described it in the “you could hear a pin drop” metaphor. Upon dismissal, the children ran down the center aisle to their parents waiting for them in the back of the church. Four-year-old Owen could hardly wait to get out the words that Jesus had died on this very day a long time ago. His mother responded that it must have been a sad time. At that moment, Owen saw a friend pass by with whom he wanted to play. Stepping out to join him, he turned around and shouted, “It’s okay, mom, he came alive again!”
Prayer
Loving God, move us to shout your praises and share your message of salvation and deliverance near and far. How beautiful are the feet of those who share with others the news that God reigns! Amen.
