Devotion
There is something about mountains. No matter where I am or what is happening in my life, being in the mountains has always brought me a sense of God's presence. As I was growing up in Minnesota, the view from Eagle Mountain overlooking Lake Superior led me to prayers of thanksgiving for all God has made. In Guatemala, as I was standing at the top of Pacaya, an active volcano, deep in my bones I acknowledged the power of God. Now in Phoenix, each day I am blessed to see the sunrise over Piestewa Peak and have the opportunity to revel that I am a child of the one who made heaven and earth. It is no wonder the psalmist looks to the creation and especially to the hills and is reminded that our Creator is the keeper of life.
Prayer
Creator God, as we play and work and live in your creation, may we find amazement in how you are the God of life. Thank you for the beauty of the hills, the lakes, the fields and the desert. May we care for all you have made as you care for us. Amen.
