Just As I Am, Without One Plea (Evangelical Lutheran Worship 592)
1 Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that though bidd’st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
2 Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
3 Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
4 Just as I am; thy love unknown has broken ev’ry barrier down; now to be thine, yea, thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Devotion
This wonderful hymn speaks of a great truth about our Christian lives. We can only come before God just as we are, imperfections and all. We may do great deeds, have a fantastic family, or we may struggle mightily with ourselves, and do regrettable things. But no matter what, through Jesus, the Lamb of God, we are invited to come into God’s presence, and find there a God who welcomes and accepts us. What comfort! What joy!
Prayer
O forgiving God, we come before you today, just as we are. Receive us, just as we are, and mold us into your faithful followers. In your most Holy Name we pray. Amen.
