Devotion
The opening of this psalm summons all of creation to contemplation of the expanse of God’s glory over all the earth. God wants everyone and everything to feel, see, and hear how the heavens declare God’s righteousness in everything God has created. We have a big God and this is a big deal. This God is all powerful and wants us all to remember it.
Sometimes I walk along a path in a state park and I look around me as I walk. I see the giant trees, the miles of grass, and I hear birds and squirrels, and other wildlife all around me. I use my eyes and my ears. I use my nose to smell the scents of the forest. I love these walks. They remind me how small I am in our great big world. I’m reminded that our God is larger than all of it. What an amazing God we have, who takes care of us and all of creation!
Prayer
All magnificent God, thank you for being greater than all we see and hear and smell around us. Thank you for taking care of me and all creation. Amen.
