Devotion
This psalm describes a God who is awe inspiring and powerful. Everything is under God’s control. When we see waterfalls, rivers, and storms in nature, we marvel at the power of the water, and these verses may come to mind. Water at times will wear away rock, change shorelines, and destroy buildings. But Jesus can make the same drastic changes in us, if we seek to follow him in our daily lives. This is difficult, but we should not give up trying to avoid those sins that most tempt us. Our powerful God does not give up on us just as water does not give up in opening dams or changing river courses.
Prayer
Dear Lord, let us be persistent and hopeful as we listen for your voice in nature, study your word, and try to follow you. Amen.
