Congregation Description:First Lutheran is located in a small town on the outter ring of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. The community is one of the fastest growing towns in Wisconsin. We have three Sunday morning worship services and one worship on Wednesday nights. Sunday school is offered Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Women's ministries, youth ministries, ministries to childcare families, lay visitation, Bible study, and several local community service locations make up a great deal of the acitivies at First. We voted to build a new church in a new location to accommodate growth and to reach out. This decision came after 25 years of discernment. Construction begins mid July 2012 and we hope to be in our new facility March 31, 2013- Easter!

Autobiography:I grew up in Ames, IA, graduated from Iowa State, and after wrestling for 4 years over my calling, attended LSTC. I have been married for 27 years, have two daughters and two grandchildren. I began with a love for youth ministry, learning and growing from many continuing educational opportunities and my mistakes along the way. I have come to accept ordained ministry more from the "rancher" mentality than the "shepherd." Even as a youth pastor, my ministry was to the adult volunteers who worked with the youth. I went on to be a mission developer for 8 years before becoming the senior pastor at First. My most recent continuing education has been in the area of staff management, having attended the two year ELCA Head of Staff program. Other continuing education experiences include many youth ministry, contemporary worship, congregational systems, ChristCare small groups, Callahan small groups, stewardship, and attended two mission developer's training programs. I am an avid upland game hunter, and breeder of Wirehaired Pointing Griffons. I look at seminary contextual education and internships as primarily a learning experience for the student, rather than a cheaper way to to ministry for the congregation.
