Verse 14You are my friends if you do what I command you. Verse 15I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.
Devotion
This past week we have focused on the Days of Pentecost. This is the departure of the physical presence of Jesus Christ, being filled with the Holy Spirit and blessed with an Advocate on life’s journey.
The work of the Holy Spirit is not articulated simply or so familiar in nature that we just pass it off as a ‘happening’ or ‘chance.’ In the book of John, Christ gives direct awareness that the Counselor “will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment…But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.” The sense of timing or seasons reminds us that He is faithful, that the promises are sure, and we are heirs to blessings in the Kingdom.
Prayer
May you, Messiah, show me your presence and may my heart give you thanks. Amen.
