Devotion
Professors at Saint Mary’s College of California (my alma mater, a Christian Brothers’ school) begin every class by saying, “Let us remember,” to which the class responds, that we are in the Holy Presence of God.” Brother Ron, former president of Bethlehem University (a Brothers’ school in Palestine, in which most students are Muslims), tells of his student who is now an airline pilot: before every take off, he says to himself, “Let us remember that we are in the Holy Presence of Allah.” All people, indeed, may take refuge in the shadow of God’s wings.

God of all, may I be always mindful of Christ, our common brother, and that you are Father and Mother of us all. Amen.
