Devotion
“Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.” (verse 8)
My children have the tendency to always say “what” no matter what it is I say to them. It seems it has almost become habit. They hear what was said, yet they need me to repeat it just for comfort’s sake. Sometimes, I feel like we say “what” to God in the same kind of way. We know what the word of God says -- love, peace, promise and hope, among other things -- but so often our ears are distracted and our minds are wandering. The prayer of the Psalmist is so powerful and relevant to us in our busy, daily lives. Slow down, stop, pause and listen to what God is speaking to you. The voice of the Lord will speak peace, love, hope and promise; something we all need to hear.
Prayer
Lord God, my rock and redeemer, help me to slow down and open my ears and my heart to what it is you are saying to me. Free me from the burdens of this world to revel in the delight of your Word. Amen.
